Cloud & Library
Your song library, cloud sync, sharing, and account management.
Local library
Every file you open is saved to Riffwork's local library (browser storage). Click Songs in the top bar to open the library panel. From here you can:
- Open any previously loaded song
- Delete songs from the library
- Sort by most recent or by name
- Filter by name using the search field
The library opens automatically on startup if you have saved songs. Autosave writes your edits back to the library entry 1.5 seconds after each change.
Export library as ZIP
Click ⬇ Export all in the library footer (when signed in) to download all your songs as a .zip file. Songs are exported as .gp7 files with deduplicated filenames.
Manual sync
Click ↻ Sync in the library footer (visible when signed in) to manually trigger a cloud sync. This pulls any songs updated on other devices and pushes any local changes not yet synced.
Creating an account
Click Sign in in the top bar. You can sign up with an email address or use Google sign-in. After signing up, check your email for a confirmation link.
Once signed in, cloud sync activates automatically. Your local library merges with your cloud library on first login.
Cloud library sync
With an account, every song you open or edit is automatically pushed to the cloud (1.5s debounce after each edit). Songs sync across devices when you sign in anywhere.
- Free accounts: up to 5 songs in the cloud
- Pro accounts: unlimited cloud songs
Share links
Click Share in the toolbar to copy a shareable link to your clipboard. The link encodes the current score (including any edits) in the URL hash using gzip compression.
- Free: hash link - the full file is encoded in the URL. Works for most tabs; very large files produce long links.
- Pro: cloud link - the file is uploaded to Riffwork's storage and the link is short. Links expire after 90 days of inactivity.
When someone opens a share link, the file loads automatically.
Live Jam
Click the Jam button (bottom of the screen) to play in sync with people in the room, each on their own device.
- Host a jam - starts a session and gives you a 4-character code, plus a QR code others can scan to join on their phone.
- Join a jam - enter the host's code (or scan their QR). Joining loads the host's chart onto your device - if you have unsaved edits open, Riffwork warns you first since they'll be replaced.
Once in a jam, the Bandleader (whoever hosted) drives playback - their play/pause/position pushes to everyone else's device automatically. Everyone can still edit notes; edits sync to the whole room in real time, and structural edits (added/deleted bars, new tracks) trigger a full chart reload on other devices. The panel shows a roster of who's in the room and which bar each person is currently on.
Click Leave jam to disconnect - your local chart stays as it was left.
Bar notes cloud sync
Bar notes (practice reminders and annotations added via the Annotate panel) sync to the cloud on Pro accounts. They're linked to the song by file ID, so they follow the song across devices.
On free accounts, bar notes are local only.
Pro upgrade
Upgrade to Pro from the pricing page. Pro is available as a monthly, annual, or lifetime purchase. After payment, your account is upgraded instantly - no need to sign out and back in.
Password reset
Click Sign in → Forgot password? to request a password reset email. Follow the link in the email to set a new password.
Account deletion
To permanently delete your account, open the user dropdown (click your email in the top bar) and select Delete account…. You will be asked to confirm twice. Deletion removes all your cloud songs, bar notes, and license records, and removes your Storage files. This cannot be undone.
