Riffwork
A Guitar Pro viewer and editor that runs in your browser.
Riffwork opens Guitar Pro files (.gp, .gp3–.gp7, .gpx) directly in the browser - no install, no account required to start. It plays back tabs with a built-in soundfont, lets you edit notes and export back to .gp7, and includes a set of practice and theory tools built around the score.
Quick tips
- Full screen on your phone: add Riffwork to your home screen (browser menu → Add to Home Screen) and open it from the icon. It launches with no address bar.
- Open from Dropbox: tap ☁ Dropbox on the start screen to pick a .gp from your own Dropbox - works on any device, no extra login.
- Edit on a phone: tap ✎ in the bottom bar to turn on edit mode, then tap a beat and tap a fret number. The bar shows your current string and fret.
- Build a chord: after placing a note it stays put - tap S↑ / S↓ to change string and add another note on the same beat.
- Switch tracks: tap a track button to view just that track (jump to the drums), or tap All to see every track at once.
- Tab, notation, or both: use the Tab / Both / Staff switcher under the track bar.
- It auto-updates: the installed app pulls new versions automatically - no reinstall needed.

Playback
Multi-track playback, A–B loop, speed trainer (auto-ramps BPM), visual metronome, track mute/solo, tab/notation/mixed views.
Note editing
Click a note to edit fret, duration, or technique. Add and delete notes and bars. Full undo/redo. Save as .gp7.
Practice tools
Session log with streak tracking, 13-week practice heatmap, bar difficulty heat chart, smart drill, bar roulette, named loop manager.
Generators
Add generated tracks: drone, bassline, arpeggiator, drums (5 style presets), step sequencer, chord progressions. All enter preview mode before committing.
Theory & analysis
Per-bar chord chart with Roman numeral toggle, scale view (14 modes), key detection, capo finder, song structure map, chord voicing finder.
Cloud & library
Local multi-file library with autosave. Free accounts get cloud sync for 5 songs. Pro: unlimited cloud songs, cloud share links, bar notes sync.
File formats
Riffwork opens all Guitar Pro formats: .gp .gp3 .gp4 .gp5 .gp6 .gp7 .gpx. It also reads .musicxml / .xml.
Files from TuxGuitar (.tg) and Power Tab (.ptb) can be converted first: open in TuxGuitar → File → Export → Guitar Pro.
Edited scores are saved back as .gp7. You can also export MIDI, AlphaTex, a printable chord sheet, or a lead sheet.

Browser extension
The Riffwork browser extension (Chrome + Firefox) watches for Guitar Pro downloads and automatically opens them in Riffwork. Install it from the extension's store page.
